Pre-Seed Fund

This fund supports early-stage startups with meaningful connections to Michigan State University, including research, technology, intellectual property, founders, alumni, or participation in supported programs. The pre-seed fund supports companies with innovative technologies, committed founding teams, evidence of market validation, and a clear path to commercialization, with a strong preference for building and growing their businesses in Michigan.

Initial investments range from $20,000 to $50,000. We offer flexible investment structures, including Convertible Debt, Equity, and SAFE Notes. The fund often serves as an early institutional investor, helping companies establish credibility and prepare for future financing opportunities.

To be eligible for investment, companies must be registered as a for-profit LLC, C-Corp, or S-Corp, have been founded within the past three years, employ a majority of full-time staff in Michigan, and demonstrate meaningful connection to Michigan State University.

Our support extends beyond financial investment. We collaborate with portfolio companies to accelerate commercialization efforts, identify and secure additional funding opportunities, build strategic partnerships and customer relationships, overcome growth challenges, and connect with our extensive network of industry experts and mentors.
