File Types and Color Modes

Understanding file types and color modes helps maintain consistency and quality in our visual communications. Each serves a specific purpose, ensuring that brand assets are optimized for their intended use.

Please contact the Director of Communications if you have questions or need specific sizes or file formats.

File Types
  • JPEG (Good): Widely compatible and good quality with smaller file sizes. Best for documents, presentations, and internal use.
  • PNG (Better): Supports transparency and high-quality resolution. Optimized for quick loading, ideal for websites, social media, and other digital content.
  • EPS (Best): Vector-based and scalable without loss of quality. Preferred for promotional items, apparel, brochures, posters, business cards, and professional printing.
Color modes
  • CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black): Used for print applications, combining four ink colors to produce a wide range of tones and ensure accurate color reproduction.
  • RGB (Red, Green, Blue): Used for digital applications, combining red, green, and blue light to create vibrant colors on screens.
  • K (Black): Used for single-color print applications.
  • W (White): Used for designs that appear on dark backgrounds.
