EAST LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 12, 2024) — The MSU Research Foundation recently supported Binary Minds, a PBS series examining the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) across art, healthcare, education, and democracy.

Produced by WKAR public television at Michigan State University, the series explores AI’s role in modern society, offering viewers a balanced perspective on the technology’s potential benefits and challenges. The 30-minute episodes aired on October 3, November 14, and December 12, 2024.

Series Highlights:

  • Art: Exploring AI’s influence on creative processes and the legal implications for artists.

  • Healthcare: Analyzing AI’s potential to enhance medical diagnostics and personalized treatment.

  • Education: Examining AI’s role in learning environments and academic development.

WKAR produced an additional television special addressing AI’s impact on information ahead of the 2024 elections, exploring how these technologies can shape public discourse.
