MSU Research Foundation Joins MIT REAP Cohort in Statewide Effort to Boost Innovation
Participation in MIT’s global program highlights a commitment to advancing innovation-driven entrepreneurship, with MSU Research Foundation Director of Research Parks, Jeff Smith, among the leaders shaping the effort.
EAST LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 4, 2024) — Jeff Smith, Director of Research Parks at the MSU Research Foundation, has joined a group of leaders from across Michigan to participate in the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (MIT REAP).
MIT REAP is a global initiative designed to strengthen innovation-driven entrepreneurship ecosystems and transform economies. The program uses an evidence-based, collaborative approach that translates MIT research into practical, strategic frameworks. These frameworks empower regional leaders to drive long-term economic and social change by convening and educating key stakeholders.
Over the next two years, Michigan’s team will engage global best practices and leverage MIT’s proven frameworks to inspire collaboration and action. This effort aims to accelerate innovation-driven entrepreneurship across the state.
“Michigan has long been a home for dreamers who chase bold ideas,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “Our selection for MIT REAP’s Cohort 11 underscores our commitment to leading the nation in growing our economy and helping innovators build the future. This opportunity will connect Michigan with MIT’s world-renowned ecosystem development framework to foster entrepreneurship, bring groundbreaking ideas to life, and create jobs that drive our economy forward. Let’s keep getting it done.”
