Venture Associate

Calvin is committed to supporting high-tech, high-growth startups in Michigan. He actively seeks out promising Pre-Seed and Seed stage companies to invest in through the Red Cedar Ventures and Michigan Rise investment funds. In addition to cultivating pipeline and performing due diligence for equity investments, Calvin helps lead the Michigan Rise Purchase Order Financing Program. This program provides early-stage startups with non-dilutive working capital to fulfill purchase orders at the earliest stages.

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Calvin enjoys assisting others in understanding startup financing and venture capital through the lens of accounting—the “language of business." He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting major, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), both from Central Michigan University.

When he’s not supporting founders, you’ll find Calvin on the basketball court, golf course, or attending to maintenance tasks at his rental properties.
